The Credibility Footprint: How to Get Recruiters to Find You on LinkedIn

I want to tell you about a client of mine. He got laid off. Lost his job out of nowhere. And a few months later, he landed a new role paying him double what he made before.

He didn't do it by sending out 200 resumes a week. He didn't do it by "optimizing his keywords" for the hundredth time. He did it using something I call the “credibility footprint” technique, and I'm going to break it down for you.

What Is a Credibility Footprint, Anyway?

It's simple, really. A credibility footprint is you documenting, validating, and proving that you are who you say you are, and that you can actually do what you say you can do.

That might sound pretty obvious, but from what I have seen, not enough people are truly documenting their credibility. And right now, it's become the single most important thing you can do in your job search. Here’s why…

Why Recruiters Stopped Trusting Resumes

Recruiters are out there right now trying to validate that you're real. That you can actually do the job you're claiming you can do.

Why? Because over the last two years, everyone and their cousin has started using fake, AI-generated resumes. And it has made recruiters' jobs infinitely harder.

First, they get thousands of these things, and they all look the same. Second, when recruiters actually call these candidates to talk to them, half the time the person can't even speak intelligently about their own resume. They don't know what's on it. They can't back up a single thing they claimed.

So now that recruiter has wasted hours on a candidate who basically lied to them. And they're done. Recruiters no longer trust resumes at face value. They have to fact-check everything now.

That's exactly what a credibility footprint does for you. It does the fact-checking for them, before they even have to ask.

How My Client Did It (And How You Can Too)

People like my client are building their credibility footprint on LinkedIn. And it's not some massive time commitment. We're talking 5 to 10 minutes a day. It builds on itself over time.

When you have a credibility footprint, you're sending a signal to recruiters that you are who you say you are, and you can do what you say you can do. That's it. That's the whole game.

Why This Matters More Than Ever Right Now

Here's the part most people don't know yet. In the last six months, LinkedIn quietly changed its algorithm for how recruiters search for candidates. And the new algorithm rewards people who are building credibility footprints.

I need to be clear about something here. You are not trying to become an influencer. You are not trying to rack up a million views on a post. It's actually the opposite of that.

This algorithm is designed to put you in front of fewer eyeballs. But the right eyeballs. The recruiters who are actively using LinkedIn's search tool to find someone with your exact skill set. And here's the catch: you only show up in those searches if you have a credibility footprint built.
