The Anatomy of a High-Performing LinkedIn Post (5-Part Framework)

Ever wonder why it feels like some people's inboxes are blowing up with recruiters offering them jobs, while other equally qualified people can't get a single one to notice them?
I see this question all the time, and after 20 years of coaching people through LinkedIn, I can tell you exactly what's going on. And it all comes down to whether or not you understand the structure of a good LinkedIn post.
And I want to be really clear about something first: LinkedIn's algorithm has recently been updated. So if you're still posting the way you were a year ago, you're leaving opportunities on the table. You need the right posting and commenting strategy, or the platform simply won't show your content to the people who matter.
So let's fix that. Here's the five-part anatomy every great LinkedIn post needs.
Part One: The Hook
Your opening line has one job and one job only: stop the scroll. If your hook is weak, nothing else you wrote matters, because no one's going to stick around to read it. This needs to be the strongest, sharpest sentence in the whole post. Don't bury your best idea in paragraph three; lead with it.
Part Two: The Insight
Here's where a lot of people mess up. They write a killer hook, and then they don't deliver on it. I call it a bait-and-switch, and readers find it very frustrating.
You must provide valuable insight and actually explain what that hook means. This can also be thought of as your "aha moment" for the reader. Make sure what you talk about is unique and going to make it worth it for your audience.
Part Three: The Proof
This is the part that separates a post that could've been written by anybody from a post that could only have come from you. What's your personal experience with this topic? What did you actually live through?
Your proof is what makes your post credible and unmistakably yours. Anyone can share advice, but only you can share your story.
Part Four: The Question
I want you to think about a LinkedIn post less like a broadcast and more like running into someone at a conference and getting into a conversation about something you both nerd out about. That's the energy you're going for.
So end with a question and invite people into the conversation. Give them a reason to comment, because engagement is exactly what tells the algorithm your content is worth spreading further.
Part Five: White Space
This tip isn’t related to what you write, but is focused on the appearance of the post itself. Big, dense paragraphs get scrolled past. Nobody wants to read a wall of text on their phone.
Use shorter lines and frequent breaks to break up your text. Let people read and breathe, read and breathe. It sounds simple, but it makes a massive difference in whether someone actually finishes your post.
Put It Together and Watch What Happens
That's it. Hook, insight, proof, question, white space. Five parts, and every single one of them matters. Skip one, and your post won't perform the way it should.
If you want to see this in action, I put together a free training that walks through exactly what a great recruiter-attracting post looks like. You can get access to it HERE.
And if you're tired of guessing what to post next, I built something for exactly that. It's called the LinkedIn Recruiter Attraction Plan, and it's designed to take all the guesswork out of your next 20 posts. It's a low one-time investment, and you get a personalized, 20-plus-page document built around you, so you know precisely what to post, when, and why, for the next month. No more staring at a blank screen wondering what to say.
