What Would You Do? Below is a work story that isn't true, but it could be! Read this workplace dilemma and then share what YOU would do by clicking the link and submitting your advice. We'd love to hear your response, and may even feature it in the newsletter!

Sunita took a new job where they were brought in to lead a new project. In their first week on the job, they quickly learned that an existing employee, Gavin, had interviewed for the job and didnā€™t get it. Itā€™s clear he doesnā€™t like Sunita. Over the past 4 months he has criticized everything Sunitaā€™s done and has even gotten a few employees to side with him. Sunita went to her boss about it and he told them to do whatever they have to do to fix it. But when they asked if Gavin could be let go, they were told no because there is no ā€œproofā€ he isnā€™t performing well. Itā€™s trueā€”heā€™s doing his job well, and clearly trying to prove Sunita was the wrong choice for the job. Meanwhile, the stress is getting to Sunita and they are having trouble sleeping and catching a lot of colds, which is impacting their performance.

People change their careers all the time, but that doesnā€™t mean itā€™s the easiest thing to do. If you are thinking about changing careers, but donā€™t have the experience listed for the jobs you want, we can help. Transferable skills and a great personality can make all the difference.

Job rejection is a disappointment, but there are things you can do to have some good come out of the experience.

You put a lot of effort into trying to get this job, and you were even told by HR that it was looking good for youā€¦but then they gave the job to someone else. You are allowed to feel sad, but the way you react to this rejection could make a difference in your job search.

Sticky notes always come in handy! We particularly love these ones with a do list to keep us organized. And the dumpster fire ones are just down right funny.

Itā€™s not a secret that recruiters look at your social media profiles during the hiring process.

Are you showing them what they want to see? Is there anything on social media you donā€™t want them to see?

We live in a world where we look up people, places, and things before we commit to them. The same goes for recruiting, hiring managers are going to look for certain things on your social media profiles before they commit to you.

It would be a real shame if you didnā€™t make it to the next phase of a hiring process because your social media profiles sabotaged you. If you want to make a good first impression on recruiters you need to know what they are looking forā€¦
