If you’ve been laid off then you know how frustrating, sad, and confusing it can be for an employee.

Being laid off is a stressful and emotional experience for any employee. It creates uncertainty and a feeling of disappointment in yourself and the work you do. Many people question why they weren’t good enough to stay and can damper their confidence when trying to find a new job.

Unfortunately, companies don’t always do the best job in caring for their employees when they lay them off. In fact many employers fail to follow proper steps when conducting lay-offs, which results in angry ex-staff members and creates worry for current employees. Many of these companies don’t mean to do this incorrectly, they just don’t have the proper training to effectively communicate what’s happening.

Here are some common mistakes companies make during layoffs, and if any of these mistakes were made by a former employer who laid you off, just know you have right to be angry and frustrated at them.

5 Reasons To Make SurveyJunkie Your Next Side Hustle

There are several reasons why someone might choose to have a side hustle as an online survey taker for SurveyJunkie. Here are five possible reasons:

1. Flexibility: Online survey taking allows for flexibility in terms of working hours. As a survey taker, you can typically choose when and where you want to complete surveys. This flexibility is especially beneficial for individuals who have other commitments such as a full-time job, studies, or family responsibilities.

2. Extra Income: One of the primary motivations for having a side hustle is to earn additional income. SurveyJunkie offers compensation to survey takers for completing surveys. While the income may vary depending on factors like survey length and complexity, it can be a convenient way to supplement your regular income or save up for specific goals.

3. Low Entry Barrier: Starting as an online survey taker usually has a low barrier to entry. SurveyJunkie, for example, allows individuals to sign up easily and start taking surveys without requiring specialized skills or experience. This accessibility makes it an attractive option for people looking to earn money without needing extensive training or qualifications.

4. Work from Anywhere: Online survey taking provides the opportunity to work from anywhere with an internet connection. Whether you prefer to work from the comfort of your home, a coffee shop, or while traveling, as long as you have access to the internet, you can take surveys and earn money. This flexibility can be particularly appealing for digital nomads or individuals seeking location-independent work.

5. Variety and Engagement: Participating in online surveys exposes you to a range of topics and provides an opportunity to share your opinions. This can be interesting and engaging for individuals who enjoy expressing their thoughts, providing feedback, or learning about different subjects. It can also serve as a way to stay updated on market trends, consumer preferences, and new products or services.

Don’t spend money on a resume writer! Resume writers aren’t writing for the right audience. They should be writing for the recruiter and making it easy for them to read your information. However, they tend to write for you and your ego. These fancy looking resumes won’t impress recruiters and you won’t get anywhere in your job search. You are fully capable of writing the perfect resume yourself! Use our free resources to help you get started:

Below are three stories about interview experiences. However, two of the stories are true and one is a lie. Can you figure out which one of the stories we made up?

Story #1: I once got a call from a company asking to set up an interview because the hiring manager saw my resume and was really impressed. He was so eager to meet me, that the interview was scheduled for the next day. When I sat down for the interview and the hiring manager starting asking me more about my experience, something didn’t line up. None of the questions he was asking me matched my experience. I politely asked for the name on the resume and he said a name that was not mine. Turns out they called the wrong person and he was referencing someone else’s resume. He was furious when he realized what was going on and I had to very awkwardly leave. Let’s just say I no longer had any interest of working there.

Story #2: I went to interview for an executive assistant position for a doctor who did a lot of work from his house. He seemed impressed with my resume, and eventually the interview grew more casual. He offered me a glass of some decent whiskey. Being young and somewhat naive and also desperate for a job, I accepted. When he offered the second round, I politely declined and left soon after. Later that night, I got a text saying he wanted to hire me and was hoping for a friends-with-benefits situation with him and his wife. That was definitely not the job I thought I was applying for.

Story #3: I work as a software engineer. I always ask how often the team works overtime. One interview they responded with, "Well, you'd be salary, so that doesn't matter." I followed up with, "How often do the people on your team work more than 40 hours in a week?" This felt like rephrasing the question, but I really wanted an answer. "Oh, I don't think anyone has ever worked less than 50 hours as long as I have been here. Sometimes it is closer to 80, but that is just the biz, you know?" Yes. I do know. I doubled my asking salary and they didn't seem interested. Go figure.

Which story is the lie?
