An informational interview is not a regular job interview…

If you have a company that you are dying to work for and have applied to multiple positions, but haven’t gotten anywhere, you need an informational interview.

But how do you get an interview if you can’t even get a response from the company? An informational interview isn’t a job interview, it’s much different. An informational interview is when you reach out to employees at the company you want to work for and ask them for guidance.

We suggest asking questions like…

• “Can you tell me how you got your job?”

• “What do you think it takes to be successful at your company?”

• “What would you advise me to do to prepare for an interview?”
