Have you been giving your cover letter as much attention as your resume?
Picture this, you’ve found the perfect job that fits all your skills, experience, and requirements. You spend time polishing your resume, so you can show the hiring manager that you are the best fit for the job. Then you are tired from working on your resume, so you slap together a cover letter. You send in the application and all your materials, but don’t hear anything back. Now, you’re disappointed and wondering why they didn’t give you an interview, even though you were a perfect fit.
Your cover letter can make all the difference in this situation. Hiring managers want to see why you are interested in their company and if your cover letter doesn’t reflect that, you will be passed over. You need to be disruptive and grab their attention, which is not going to happen if you slap together a cover letter in five minutes.
Taking time to craft a well thought out cover letter can make all the difference in getting an interview for the job. We’ve put together some of the most common cover letter mistakes that cause hiring managers to pass over candidates. This is what you need to avoid.

Raj just started a new job. He’s 6 weeks in and nothing he is doing matches what he was hired to do. His boss keeps saying he’ll be doing the work he was hired to do soon, but in talking with some other employees, he’s being told this particular boss is known for the “bait and switch” of jobs. They also told him that he’s the fourth person hired for the job as the previous 3 quit as soon as they realized they weren’t going to be doing the work they were hired to do. Unfortunately, Raj has student loan debts and rent so he can’t quit without another job. He’s miserable in the role and so angry and embarrassed that he didn’t realize in the interview that the job wasn’t as described.

Best Of Seat Cushions? If you work a desk job, then you know sitting in a chair all day long can cause back pain, neck strain, and other annoying aches/pains. And while its recommended that you change your working every so often, sometimes it can be a challenge. Enhancing your desk chair with a seat cushion and back support can make all the difference. It’s time to say goodbye to your uncomfortable office chair:
Juggling growing a career and raising a family is hard work.
Meeting the needs of your children and family while also taking on the demands of your career has been a challenge workers have faced for many years. And while it can be difficult, it’s not impossible.
Being able to manage your time to create a healthy work-life balance is probably the most challenging part of being a working parent. You want to be successful in your career, but also want your family to succeed at the same time. And if one of those aspects doesn’t get adequate attention, then the other aspect will fail too.
So what can working parents do to excel both personally and professionally? How can they find that perfect work life balance?
We recently asked our leading executives for their advice on this topic and here’s what they had to say…
