Your resume will most likely be the first impression a recruiter or hiring manager will receive. So, if you haven’t heard us say it before, you need to make sure your resume will impress any future employer!

Job seekers will make silly grammar mistakes or layout their information poorly on their resumes, causing hiring managers to throw their resumes in the trash.

If you’re making silly mistakes (that can be easily avoided) you will not stand out to any recruiter/hiring manager. So what mistakes should you be looking out for in your resume? Here’s what you need to know

What’s your greatest weakness? We all hate this interview question, but unfortunately there’s not really any way to avoid it in an interview. Lucky for you, we can teach you the best way to answer this dreaded question, so you can impress your interviewer.

Below are three interview experience stories, however, two of them are real one is a lie. Can you figure out which one we made up?

Story #1: I've done decently in the actual interviews, but once as I was sitting down in their reception area awaiting my interview. As I sat, the crotch of my trousers split open! I carried on, with my boxers hanging out. It was noticed and I made light of it .... I even got the job!

Story #2: I travelled from Manchester to Cambridge for a 9.30am interview. They had contacted me and invited me to interview, rather than me applying, so I was feeling relatively confident. I was kept waiting for over an hour before the interview started, then called in to find that I was being interviewed by 10 people. They asked me how my journey had been, all the usual chitchat. And then one of the interviewers said, 'We won't be taking this any further as we really prefer to hire Cambridge grads, so we won't waste your time any longer.' Definitely worth the 300 mile round trip!

Story #3: I once walked into the interview, only to be greeted by my ex-boyfriend. I had no idea he worked there, and obviously didn’t know he would be one of the people interviewing me. I tried to be as professional as I could, but he was making the interview extremely awkward and criticizing everything I said. It got to the point where one of the other interviewers asked him to leave. Let’s just say I didn’t get the job, not that I even wanted it after that.

Which story is the lie?

You don’t need to go to college to have a successful career.

There’s a lot of pressure on high schoolers to go to college if they want to have a career. Unfortunately, tuition prices are sky-high and many students leave college in severe debt. Even worse, many can’t find high paying jobs and are underemployed. The truth is, you don’t need a college education to have a successful career. One of the best examples of this is working in a trade.

Trades are in high demand and don’t require a traditional four year college degree. They can truly be a great option for many people!

Here’s five reasons why you should consider working in a trade.
